CHRISTMAS CANDLES
Calendar and advent candles are a Scandinavian tradition, symbolizing the countdown to Christmas. Calendar candles, marked with numbers from 1 to 24, are lit daily throughout December, burning down to the next number each day, marking the days leading up to Christmas Eve. Advent candles are arranged in a set of four candles, representing the four Sundays of Advent. Each Sunday, a new candle it lit until all four are glowing by the final week before Christmas. Often Placed in decorative wreaths, the four candles symbolize hope, peace, joy, and love. Both types of candles embodies the Scandinavian love for “hygge”.
